EBOOK FOR DISSEMINATION

Image
Here's the final product of our project, the ebook, which presents some of the most important activities done by our students: Let's Create, Not Waste!

1st KINDERGARTEN OF iLIOUPOLIS HANDICRAFT PRODUCTS WITH WASTE HOUSE ITEMS

With an empty large plastic water container we created a target game. The children had to put improvised balls made from old aluminum foil inside the bottle.     With an empty box we made a dice to play various games.

My students played and recreated the winner project poster puzzle at home. This way they found out which poster was the winner.

CRAFTS WITH WASTE HOUSE ITEMS For this activity students were put in groups of 5-6 and each team created different things. For example, one team painted metal bottle caps red (creating ladybugs) and yellow (creating bees) to make pieces for the tic-tac-toe game. Another team made pencil boxes out of tin cans and a third team made flowers out of cotton ear buds. They had fun.

RECYCLE THEMED CALENDAR As my students are a bit older than their partners, they already know how to work on canva. That's why I was confident enough to let them fulfill the task on their phones.

WASTE CLOTH CRAFTS For this activity we had less time than we would have liked, so we only managed to make little snowmen like in this uploaded picture (although it's not really their time) out of white socks stuffed with cotton wool and decorated with buttons, beads and ribbon.

WASTE PAPER CRAFTS (2) Our second activity with waste paper (cardboard)... We created flower bouquets from egg cartons. We painted the egg carton pieces, then we glued them on a separate piece of paper to make the bouquet. We worked in groups. The most difficult part was to cut out the egg carton pieces, but we think the end result is beautiful.

WASTE PLASTIC CRAFTS For the waste plastic activity we chose to make "jewellery" from colourful plastic drinking straws. My students cut the straws into smaller pieces, then they put the pieces on a string, making bracelets and even necklaces which they wore proudly afterwards.

WASTE PAPER CRAFTS For the paper craft activity we chose to make paper plate frisbees (and we even played with them after that). They're easy to make: you just need to colour and glue together two paper plates and the fun can begin.

PROJECT POSTERS These are the posters my students created on canva. Then we organized a mini poll and chose two posters from to represent us. These are the ones we chose to represent us:

PROJECT BULLETIN BOARD Here's the bulletin board prepared by my students. It's going to hang on the wall of the classroom until the end of the project to remind us of our tasks.

Our activities in May(Nafiye Özer, Fevzi Çakmak İlkokulu İstanbul,)

In this activity, we recycled waste household items for reuse. We also got help from parents for this, and very interesting and beautiful products emerged. We created an exhibition of these products and invited our parents and teachers to our exhibition. Thus, we drew more attention to the project and inspired people.

Our April activities (1st Kindergarten of Ilioupolis)

We discussed with our students about the project theme ‘Let’s Create, not Waste.’ and we used Canva to create logos. Here is our work.  We voted for the logo.   We created table tennis rackets with empty toilet paper rolls and cardboard paper. We have a lot of fun!   We created a puppet with old socks, ribbons, wool. We loved our creation. We created an online calendar together with our students in May. The months assigned to our class were February, May, and August. We divided into three groups, one for each month. Together with the students we added small illustrations to the calendar using the Canva program.

Our April Activites (Nevra Koçak Tosun - Fevzi Çakmak İlkokulu)

As part of our recycling and creativity initiative, we collected used toilet paper rolls. Students painted the rolls in colors of their choice and allowed them to dry before assembling them with additional materials. Through this process, they created unique owl figures from the recycled rolls. At the end of the activity, the students took their owl crafts home and shared the experience with their families, reinforcing the importance of sustainability and creative reuse.   Students brought unused socks from home to school. We filled the socks with sawdust, tied them up, and then added facial features such as eyes, mouth, and ears. After completing the grass heads, the students took them home and watered them regularly. They observed the growth of grass from the grass heads made out of recycled socks.

We made wonderful frames out of plastic straws with my students and displayed them on our board. Instead of throwing old newspaper away, we recycled it and created amazing cat crafts.
